Poetry Piece by Abdulla Amla

Breathe,
I can’t no more for in every word you say lies the emptiness that so aptly describes how I feel these days.
A silken sunset pushes its arms delicately through a bleak cloudscape, and the once spectacular scenery starts to close its eyelids leaving only a trail of where we once tread on golden sands.
Clouds across the horizon as if in a frenzy threaten to splatter their over laden teary cargo,
and yet side by side,
land and sea,
and wooden and sandy pathways,
have a furtive look about them,
still lending a hand to each other,
as if never wanting to let go.
Unlike us, you choose not to colour our canvas of love anymore,
surrendering your artistic strokes for a blanket full of empty dreams and wishes.
Where you once stood,
I still stand,
in the hope of being moved by the elements and the mockery of time.
